Bourbon County Principals
Bourbon County Schools is committed to fostering academic excellence and integrity. To support this goal, a Good Faith Effort Rubric will be implemented for all school and state testing. By signing this contract, parents and students agree to uphold the expectations outlined below, ensuring a productive and respectful testing environment.

Student Expectations for Good Faith Effort:
Personal Technology:
All personal technology (e.g., phones, smartwatches) must be placed in the teacher-designated location before the test session begins.
Behavior and Respect:
Students must remain quiet and avoid any actions that could disturb others during the test or testing session.
Following Directions:
Students are responsible for following all test-related instructions, including logging in correctly, entering codes, and completing tasks as directed.
Appropriate Use of Technology:
School-issued Chromebooks or other devices must be used exclusively for testing purposes during the session.
Attendance and Timeliness:
Students must attend testing sessions on time unless excused due to illness or a doctor’s appointment.
Focus and Attention:
Students are expected to stay focused and attentive throughout the duration of the test.
Effective Time Management:
Students will have sufficient time to complete the test. It is their responsibility to manage this time wisely and effectively.

Students will earn one point each day in each category of the Good Faith Effort Rubric they successfully meet. For school testing, this process may take place over a 1–2 day period, while for state testing, the timeframe will depend on the testing window specific to each grade level.
Recognition for Effort:
Students will have the opportunity to earn rewards for demonstrating Good Faith Effort during testing.
Please note:
Good Faith Effort Score Disclosure: Students and parents will not be informed of Good Faith Effort scores until all testing (both school and state assessments) has been completed.
State Testing Regulation: Per 703 KAR 5:080, state law prohibits the disclosure of points or scores to students until the testing period is concluded.
Effort-Based Points: The points earned reflect the effort, not the accuracy of answers. This ensures that students are recognized for their diligence and focus during testing.
Family and School Collaboration:
Teachers and administrators will thoroughly review the Good Faith Effort expectations with students before testing. However, we encourage parents to reinforce these discussions at home to ensure students fully understand the importance of their effort during testing events.
By signing below, both students and parents/guardians acknowledge the Good Faith Effort expectations and commit to supporting a positive testing experience.

Our Bourbon County High School family is coming together today with heavy hearts as we mourn the loss of one of our own, Braxton Warmouth.

The Bourbon County Schools family will miss Braxton deeply. Certified counselors are available to support students and staff through this difficult time. Please keep Braxton’s family and friends in your thoughts and prayers over the coming days and weeks.

A note to our BCHS Family: We know that this is an incredibly hard time for all of us. Losing a member of our school family leaves a void that is felt by students, staff, and parents alike. Please know that you do not have to carry this grief alone. If you or your students need anything at all—whether it’s a place to talk, grief support, or just a helping hand—please let us know. Our counselors and staff are here for you, now and in the days to come.

Our deepest love and prayers are with his parents, Bryant Warmouth and Dustin and Kelsie Rison, and his siblings, Jakobe, Walker, and Cohen. We stand with you in your grief, and we thank you for sharing Braxton's beautiful life with our school community.

Donations & Support: For those looking to offer support to the Rison/Warmouth family, please contact the High School Counseling Office via email at paula.thompson@bourbon.kyschools.us or nikki.mullins@bourbon.kyschools.us.
